Fred Allen Foxworthy, 77, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Union Hospital. He was born on August 29, 1936, in Terre Haute, to William and Mary (Rooney) Foxworthy. He married Donna Tilley on February 8, 1963, and together they raised two sons.
Fred Foxworthy was a man who did not know a stranger. Perhaps you were blessed to make his acquaintance or better yet to truly know him. He had a friendly unassuming disposition and a natural trust in his fellow man that endeared him to many. Fred loved God and was a man of principle, character and generosity. He liked old cars and collected thousands of old records. He enjoyed watching sports and was a Larry Bird fan. He had a unique sense of humor that to the initiated was intensely funny.
No man can be summed up in a newspaper obituary and certainly not Fred. His absence has left a vacuum that cannot be filled by anyone or anything in this world. He was a priceless gift from God to those who loved him and the memories that he gave us will keep on giving until we meet him again.
Fred is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Foxworthy; sons, Thomas Foxworthy and his wife Jennifer and Jim Foxworthy and his wife Michelle; grandchildren: Joshua, Laura, Matthew, Noah, Simon, Chloe, Ivy, Willow, and Oliver Foxworthy; a great-grandson, Jacob Foxworthy; and aunts, Norma Keller and Wilma Newport.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 on Tuesday, November, 19 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Shawn Riggs officiating. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
