Gene C. Grimes

Gene C. Grimes, of Montezuma, our beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute at the age of 87.

Gene was born in Lyndonville, N.Y. on November 1, 1925, the daughter of the late Lowell and Marie (Manley) Barnum. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Elmer Grimes on February 7, 1948. Gene was a proud and dedicated mother and an excellent homemaker. As a loving and easy going person, Gene enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was an avid Yahtzee player and a huge NASCAR fan.

She leaves behind her son, Bruce and wife Eva June Grimes of Terre Haute; sister, Veva Wienke of Lyndonville, N.Y. , along with several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

In addition to her parents, Gene was welcomed home to heaven by her husband of nearly sixty years, Elmer on February 1, 2008.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Roselawn Funeral Home in Terre Haute. Gene’s Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Monte Reichenberg will officiate with interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in memory of Gene may be directed to Meadows Manor North’s Activity Center, 3150 N. 7th St., Terre Haute, IN. 47804.
