

George Robert Parker, of Terre Haute, our devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend died peacefully on the afternoon of Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Meadows Manor North, age 77.
George graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1954. He proudly served our country with the U.S. Army. George went on to marry the love of his life, the former Joan Grother on February 19, 1955. Their marriage was blessed with six children and countless memories throughout their 58 years together. George retired from the Railroad after 42 years of dedicated service. He loved to fish, mushroom hunt and work on old cars. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends for generations to come.
George leaves behind his loving wife, Joan; children, Robert Dean Parker of Terre Haute, Rose Ann Atkinson and husband Dale of Surf City, NC., Donald Lee Parker of Terre Haute, James Joseph Parker of Terre Haute, Ronald Dale Parker of Terre Haute and George Allen and wife Sharon Parker of Terre Haute. He was the proud and loving grandpa of Chris, Robert, Brandy, Eric, Keri, William Michael, Amanda, Misty, Krista, Ronald, Heather, Joann, George and Robin. Also surviving are twenty one great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn and brothers, Raymond and Ralph.
In accordance with George's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until George's Memorial Ceremony at 5:00 p.m. at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 Lafayette.
