

Gerald was born in Terre Haute on January 25, 1937, the son of the late Clarnce and Peritha (Smith) Fields. He was united in marriage to his loving and dedicated wife of 57 years on April 22, 1955, who survives. As a hardworking and dedicated person, Gerald retired from Laborers Union Local #204 after 30 years of service. He loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed playing cards, fishing and mushroom hunting.
Gerald leaves behind his devoted wife, Patricia; loving children, Lawrence and wife Betty Fields of West Terre Haute, Gerald L. Fields of Clinton, Helen Elkins of West Terre Haute, Ronald and wife Carol Fields of Clinton, Rose Thomas and husband Glenn of Clinton, Deborah and husband Hank Simmons of Rosedale and Teresa and husband Mark Crews of Terre Haute; sister, Naomi Fields of Illinois, eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his three brothers, Bill, Don and Everett and four sisters, Mamie, Maxine, Margaret and Mary.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until Gerald’s Funeral Ceremony at 2:00 p.m. at the Roselawn Funeral Home in Terre Haute. Pastor Kyle Andrews will officiate with entombment to follow in Roselawn’s Chapel of Memories. The entire Fields family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of VNA/Hospice of the Wabash Valley for the compassionate care provided during Gerald’s final days.
