Gordon L. Stoneking, 82, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on June 1, 2026. He was born on December 16, 1943, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Leroy Stoneking and Ruby (Travelstead) Cartwright. Gordon was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He retired from CSX as a conductor. He was a fun-loving man who enjoyed racing motorcycles, stock cars, and golfing. Gordon was a member of American Legion Post #104. He is survived by his wife Lida V. Stoneking; siblings Debi Cartwright, Kim Stoneking (Lillian), and Terry Stoneking; nephews and nieces Brandon Swart (Megan), Devon Swart, Taelor Swart, and Camden Swart; cousin Bev Marlow and companion Pam Oberholtzer. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Cody Swart, brother Ron Cartwright, and his K-9 companion Stonie. Gordon had too many special friends to list, but you know who you are. Thank you for the memories he had with you. In honoring his wishes, there will be a military graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gordon’s memory to American Legion Post #104.
