

Helen R. Adams, 103, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, January 3 at the home of her niece. She was born on July 10, 1908, in Terre Haute, to Charles W. and Georgianna (Carithers) Hild. She was a homemaker and a caregiver. She was a member of Mt. Aetna Church. Helen loved to garden and crochet. She was an avid quilter and loved to bake for her family. She had no children of her own, but she helped raise many, especially her niece, Sandy Hild Kelly and her nephew, William Hild. She was the last surviving member of a family of nine children.
Helen is survived by her nieces, Sandy Kelly, Rosalie Alsop, Camilla Dean, Millie Ames, and Jennie Crowder; her nephews, William Hild, Charles Rukes, Clovis A. Rukes, Paul Rukes, Bill Rukes, and Herb Rukes; great-nieces, Sheri Judy and Nikki Norris, great-nephews, Tommy Kelly, Michael C. Hild, and Scott M. Hild; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, Walter, brothers, Forrest Rukes, Clovis Rukes, Bill Hild and Samuel Hild, and sisters, Jane Rukes, Gladys Rukes Noziff, Thelma Rukes, and Letha Rukes.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 7 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday, January 7 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Burnett Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.thomasfuneralhome.net
