Helen Compton

Helen June Compton, 89, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away Aug. 19, 2015. She was born June 20, 1926, to Anna Sczerba Chomiak Gordiev and Carroll Chomiak, in Brooklyn, New York. Helen was a member of the Lyford Bible Church and Grace Baptist Church.

Helen is survived by her husband, Jack Aaron Compton, whom she married Oct. 1, 1944, in Westchester, New York; son, Richard Spencer Compton; grandchildren, Nathan Archer, Teresa Marlow, Amy Hall, Matthew Ford, John Ford, Ann Ford and Benjamin Ford; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Rich, Stephany Marlow, Shelby Marlow, Hunter Marshall, Katelyn Marshall and Marilyn Ford; great-great-grandchild, Adam Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, John Gordiev; children, Richard Spencer Compton, Ronald Wayne Compton and Carroll June Compton Ford; and sisters, Maia Jacobs, Sonya Gordiev and Olga Morris.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at Roselawn Memorial Park in the Chapel of Memories. Pastor James Haddix will be officiating. Burial will follow after services in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family has entrusted Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, Indiana, with care and arrangements.
