

Helen Aletha Simpson, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Glenmont Nursing Home in Hilliard, OH. She was born on January 31, 1936, in Terre Haute to George and Nola (Newton) Ogden. She married Clifford R. Simpson on June 16, 1956.
Helen graduated from ISU with a Master’s Degree in Education. She worked for many years as a teacher at Deming Elementary. Helen had a passion for teaching, and in her spare time, she could be found tutoring children that needed extra help to succeed. She was also an excellent pianist and used her talents, for both educating and music, to teach piano to many, including her children and grandchildren. Helen also was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Terre Haute.
Helen is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Clifford R. Simpson of Terre Haute; children: Carla Webb of Columbus, OH; Craig Simpson of Avon; Douglas Simpson of Nashville, TN; Gordon Simpson and wife Nikki of Terre Haute; and Andrew Simpson of Bloomington; and grandchildren: Brandon Webb; Kyle, Cory, Nathan, Nicole, Aaron, Nash, and Lexi Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, William Waldrop.
Visitation will be from 2 until 3 p.m. on Monday, November 25 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home with Mrs. Iva Mae Hawley officiating and piano music by Nathan Simpson. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park.
