Imogene O'Day

Imogene O’Day, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 10, 1928, in Bible Grove, IL, to Harry and Laura (Poehler) Curtright. She married Max O’Day on October 9, 1948, and together they raised three children.

Imogene and Max owned and operated O’Day’s Restaurants in Terre Haute and Greencastle. She later worked in the office at Paitson Brothers Hardware. Imogene loved to watch Nascar races and baseball games, especially the Little League World Series. She was an avid bowler, bingo player, and country music fan. Most of all, Imogene loved spending time with her family.

Imogene is survived by her children: Michael O’Day and wife Nancy of Terre Haute; Ron O’Day and wife Patti of Terre Haute; and Carol Smith and husband John of Largo, FL; granddaughters: Melissa Marks (Brett Wible) of Terre Haute; Amy Cruse (Rob) of Carmel; Kimberly O’Day (Scott Hess) of Carmel; Rebecca O’Day (Josh Short) of Terre Haute; Kelli Lloyd (Brenton) of Terre Haute; grandsons: Ryan O’Day (Becky) and Ben O’Day (Kelly) all of San Diego; great-grandchildren: Jeffrey Marks of Bloomington; Chloie Marks, Justin Cork, Bristol and Bella Short, all of Terre Haute; Liam, Riley, Marley, Molly, and Landry O’Day, all of San Diego; Braeli and Keira Lloyd, and Gavin Lloyd (due in February) all of Terre Haute; and last but not least, her beloved little dog, Sasha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; her parents, and her brothers Don and Kenneth Curtright.

Visitation will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 4 p.m., on Sunday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Abe Miller officiating. Per Imogene’s wishes, cremation will take place with burial to follow at a later date in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society or Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
