Jack was my Bible school teacher while I was in high school at the East Peoria church of Christ. He was a wonderful caring teacher to all of us high school kids. I really enjoyed the presentation of his lessons. It kept me interested. Now as a retired teacher, I know what makes a good teacher. Jack was one of those.
I always respected Jack as an elder and as my high school teacher.

Jack was a caring Elder at East Peoria church of Christ. He would get after me about my long hair. I would tell him I wanted my hair this way because in my older days I might not have much hair. I realized he cared for me and wanted me to do right. Jack and Jennie were the first Peoria friends to visit us in our new home in California. Belva and I surely loved Jack and you,Jenny. You were always so kind to us. Girls, you were so blessed to have had a Dad like Jack and a sweet mother like Jenny. I wish Belva and I could see you again but we will when all God's singers get home. When that time comes, I want to ask Jack if he was jealous of all the hair I had. I sure don't have that much now.

I first attended the East Peoria Church of Christ in February 1969 shortly after Jeanne and I moved to East Peoria. The first two people I met were Jack and Peyton Reynolds both of whom befriended me. Jack became a close friend and mentor and someone I always admired. (Nancy Ropp just mentioned to me yesterday how she always admired Jack as a strong Christian.) I haven't seen Jack in many years but I will always have many good memories.

I was very fortunate to have Jack for a boss, when I first started work at Caterpillar, back in the 1960's. Jack could sometimes be a bit absent minded. One of my routine duties after Jack returned from a trip was to phone places he had visited to request they mail to the office a hat, or scarf, or shoes he had left behind. Jack was more than a good boss; he was also a friend.

Genny and family..I was so saddened when I opened the PJS in Peoria today. You probably don't remember me, but I was Donna, Jack's secretary in the service department at Caterpillar. He always kept me up on the family and was such a nice man. Hold on to all the wonderful memories and may God bless your family at this time. Donna Maxson, Metamora, IL

Grandpa, You were the father I never had, the grandfather every child should have, and responsible for leading me to my Heavenly Father where I know I will one day be reunited with you! Thank you for never giving up on me; showing me the way, and always believing in me all the while; loving me. I will always strive to be the example you were to me for others. I love you...I miss you, dearly and will cherish your memory, and our memories, always.
