

Jack B. Muncie, 80, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2015. He was born in Brazil, Ind., on March 13, 1935, to John and Millie (Gentry) Muncie. Jack was an honorably discharged veteran of the Korean War, having served with the 3rd Division on the 38th Parallel. He attained the rank of sergeant first class before ending his first enlistment of his military career. He served 10 years in active duty and seven years in the Army Reserves. He was the recipient of several awards including CIB (Combat Infantry Badge) and was an expert marksman with the U.S. Army Rifle Team. He attended Oregon Baptist Church, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also worked 26 years at Indiana Gas and Chemical, more commonly known as the Coke Plant.
His survivors include his wife, Beverly (Hubbs) Muncie, to whom he was married on June 10, 1954. His four daughters are Debra Brown (Paul), Jackie Price, Penny Talpas (Mark) and Jenifer Blankenship (Dennis). His son, David Muncie, preceded him in death on May 24 of this year. Other survivors are his daughter-in-law, Mary Muncie; grandchildren, Brandon Brown, Chad Talpas, Clay Talpas, Caleb Talpas, Michael Blankenship, Ashley Stirrett, Katelyn Blankenship and Michelle Bower; and step-grandchildren, Chasity Long Lakin (Josh) and Brooke Wilkinson (Troy). His great-grandchildren are Connor Blankenship, Elizabeth Blankenship and Colby Brown; and step-great-grandchildren are Dakota Verbonitz, Leighton Shay Verbonitz, Carter Wilkinson and Violet Wilkinson.
Funeral services will be in DeBaun Springhill Chapel at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, with the Rev. Paul Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 11 a.m. Tuesday until services. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors by the U.S. Army casualty unit from Indianapolis. Online condolences can be made at:
