

James Ross Berry, Sr. of Terre Haute, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Meadows Manor North, age 83.
James was born on October 1, 1928 in Terre Haute, the son of the late Richard and Flossie Berry. He was united in marriage to his loving and devoted wife, the former Melba Fern Mundell on October 6, 1946 in Terre Haute. Their marriage was blessed with two children and over sixty five years. James retired from Consolidated Rail Corporation (ConRail) and will forever be remembered as a tireless and extremely hardworking person. As a devout Christian and Godly servant of the Lord, James belonged to Four Square Gospel Church and had also attended Maryland Community Church. James also enjoyed flying planes at Sky King Airport. When not flying at Sky King, he enjoyed flying remote control planes. He had a knack for carpentry, and even built his own home. An avid animal lover, James was known for raising Pomeranians and cats. He was an avid tree lover, and especially cared for pecan trees. His unwavering faith, funny, sensitive, caring and honest personality will live on in the hearts of those he touched for generations to come.
James leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Melba of Terre Haute; daughter, Charlene Berry of Terre Haute; grandchildren, James Ross Berry III and wife Melissa of Sparta, TN. and Angela Marie Berry of Dixon, IL. He was the proud and loving great grandpa of Isaac, Brianna, Joyclyn and Ralph, Jr. Also surviving are one sister, Emmabelle Lowry of Terre Haute; brother, Bob Berry of Nashville, TN.; in-laws, Charles and Norma Mundell, Leo Mundell and Elizabeth Mundell, along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of dear friends.
In addition to his parents, James was welcomed home to heaven by his son, James Ross Berry, Jr.; brother, Eugene Berry; sisters-in-law, Betty Berry and Ann Mundell and brothers-in-law, Marion Lowry, Earl Mundell, Dale Mundell and Joe Mundell.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until James’ Funeral Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at the Roselawn Funeral Home in Terre Haute. Rev. Merrillyn Smith will officiate with interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Memory of James may be directed to Four Square Gospel Church, Terre Haute Humane Society or the Arbor Society.
