Jenny Marie Bowles

Jenny Marie Bowles, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Cobblestone Crossings Health Campus. She was born on March 1, 1921, in Terre Haute, to John and Flora (Matiman) Hoffner. She married Woodrow “Woody” Bowles and he preceded her in death in December 1991.

Jenny worked for Chesty Foods for over 30 years. She also worked for Jack’s and Simplicity Patterns. Jenny was a long-time member of the Wesleyan Church located at 20th and Hulman. She was strong in her faith and read her Bible daily. Jenny was feisty by nature and fiercely independent. She enjoyed keeping busy. Jenny lived her life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed.

Jenny is survived by her nieces and nephews: Carla Chapman, Jena Schoffstall, Mary Keller, Sally McMurray and husband Gary, John Hoffner, all of Terre Haute, Steve Hoffner of Brentwood, MO, and Mike Hoffner; several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, a great-great-great-nephew; and many church friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers Nick, Pete, and Paul “Salty” Hoffner, sisters Lena Carress, Victoria Hoffner, and another sibling.

Visitation will be held from 11 to 2 on Wednesday, June 11 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home, with Dr. Dan Willis officiating.
