John J. Villa

John graduated from Schulte High School in 1974. He went on to Indiana State University and graduated from there in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in history. John lived and worked for twenty years in Chicago and then worked at the Vigo County Assessor’s Office for twenty years before retiring in 2025.

John was an avid San Francisco Giants and Chicago sports fan. He loved history and reading.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Villa; a sister, Georgia Villa Krill; two brothers, James Villa Jr and Fr Joseph Villa and two nephews, Michael Krill and Jeff Krill.

John is survived by his sister, Nancy (Steve) Adams of Indianapolis; nieces: Stacy (George) Pearce of Yorkville, Illinois, Kristin (Julian) Tate of Fort Wayne and Tina (Randy) Shirkey of Ohio; nephews: Patrick Adams of Indianapolis, Brian Villa of Carmel and Ken (Debbie) Krill of Washington; a host of great nieces and nephews that he was very proud of and his best friend, Garry Ciolli.

Visitation for John will be on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 South 9th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana 47807 from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Mass will follow at 12:00pm. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.
