Juanita Marie Branam, 95, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on September 26, 2026. On May 15th, 1931, Juanita was born to Mary and Henry Horton of Paris, Illinois. She grew up in quite a home of love accompanied by three brothers Tom, Leo, and Leslie, and two sisters Retta May and Mary Ruth. A tom boy of a girl beloved by her father who playfully called her Butch. At the age of 20 Juanita moved to Terre Haute to work at Packard Shirt Company as a bookkeeper. There she met Mary Phyllis Branam (Koos), the two quickly became friends and decided to room together at the local YWCA. That year Mary Phyllis from Fontanet took Juanita to the Annual Bean Dinner to meet her family. Juanita was introduced to parents Grace (Inglert) and Everett, brothers Everett Jr, Teddy, and Tom, and sisters Ruth Anne and Shirley Lynn. Ted asked Juanita to dance, and they were from that moment inseparable. The couple got married on December 29, 1951. Soon thereafter the couple who were eager to start a family found out from Juanita’s doctor that she was unable to have children. But soon thereafter she became pregnant with their first child, followed by eight more for a total of nine children. Juanita and Ted were overwhelmed with God’s blessing of Nine children Shirley (Chuck Gaston), Jan (Bill Brock), Barbara (Dennis Davis), Teddy Jr (Cindy Ingraham) Joseph (Karen Hill), Bradley (Jan Exline), Lori Anne, James (Kelly Butler) and Joshua (Jennifer Ciolli). From these nine children came 31 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren and still counting. God is so good. Juanita and Ted were baptized and joined North Terre Haute Christian Church on January 24th, 1960, and attended there the rest of their lives. On October 16th, 2002, after 51 years of marriage, Ted went home to be with the Lord. Juanita continued to be a steadfast blessing to her family and on September 26th Juanita was reunited with Ted in their eternal home in heaven. Love of God and a devotion to family was the theme of their lives. What a life well lived. Juanita will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be at North Terre Haute Christian Church, 3133 Park Ave, Terre Haute, Indiana, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until-7:00 p.m. at the church and also on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
