Kenneth (Ken) W. Dyer, 85, of West Terre Haute, passed away on October 25, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, a legacy of hard work and craftsmanship, and a love for his family and the simple beauty of the world around him.
Ken was born on July 21, 1941, in Dixon, Illinois, to Dewain T. and Dorothy H. (Stewart) Dyer. He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1959, where he played football, before proudly serving in the United States Army. A dedicated and hardworking man, Ken spent 40 years working for Powell-Stephenson Lumber Company and also served with Vigo County Inspections. Throughout his life, he put his skills and talents to good use, building and remodeling numerous houses. He was a man who knew the value of honest work and took pride in creating something lasting with his own two hands.
Beyond his work, Ken found happiness in the peace and beauty of the outdoors. He loved the woods, fishing, and spending time surrounded by nature. He appreciated the simple pleasure of watching birds in his yard, finding joy in their visits and the quiet moments they brought. He also had a thoughtful, romantic side, shown in the rose bushes he enjoyed planting for his wife. These small but meaningful gestures reflected the caring heart behind his hardworking nature. Whether working on a home, enjoying a day of fishing, or tending to the things he loved, Ken found fulfillment in life's everyday blessings.
Above all, Ken leaves behind a family who will carry his memory forward. His life was shaped by the relationships he treasured and the many memories made along the way. His love, dedication, and the things he built, both with his hands and through the bonds he shared with others, will remain part of his family's story for generations to come.
Though Ken will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the homes he helped build, the rose bushes he planted, the birds that visit the yard, and the quiet beauty of the woods and waters he loved. These reminders of his life will bring comfort to those who knew him, serving as a lasting tribute to a man who found meaning in hard work, nature, and the people closest to his heart.
May Ken's memory bring comfort to those who loved him, and may the simple things he cherished serve as gentle reminders that a life well lived leaves its mark in ways both great and small.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Dewain T. and Dorothy H. Dyer; his stepfather, Milton Andreas; and his siblings, Lillian (Alan) Dyer Shipman, Robert Dyer, and Rosa Puller, Milton Andreas Jr.
