Kitty Elaine Kellett, 59, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 8, 1960 in Terre Haute to Stanley and Eileen (King) Orndorff. She married Edward Kellett on June 20, 1980.
Kitty is survived by her husband of 39 years, Ed Kellett of Terre Haute; son, Jarred Kellett (Brandy Cagle) of Terre Haute; Kacie Kellett of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brock, and Gage Kellett, all of Terre Haute; sisters, Candy Nevill (Sam), Glenna Webster (Kenny), Cathy Swift (Mark), and Kim Orndorff (Gary Chaney) all of Terre Haute; brother, Kenneth Orndorff (Karen) of Avon; sister-in-law, Cheryl Smith (Norman) of Terre Haute; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Raymond Orndorff.
Kitty graduated from Terre Haute North Vigo High School in 1979. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2004 from ISU with her Bachelor’s degree in Education. She taught for several years at Meadows Elementary and taught 4th grade at Farrington Grove. More than just a teacher to her students, Kitty loved and cared for the children in her classroom like they were her own. Everything she did, she did with kindness and compassion. She devoted herself to the care and wellbeing of others, whether it was at home or at school. Kitty was an outstanding example of what a good human being should be. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook. She enjoyed watching the Food Network and crime documentaries. Most of all, she loved and cherished her family.
Kitty’s family would like to thank the staff of Intrepid Hospice, especially nurse Ciarra Grigsby, for the kindness and care that was given to her and her family during Kitty’s final days.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 19 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Pringle officiating. Kitty will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park.
