

Larry was born to Fenton and Maxine Macke February 13, 1945 in Paris, IL. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1963 and went to serve in the United States Marine Corps and is a Vietnam War Veteran becoming a member of Post 104 in Terre Haute. Following his military service he worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service. Larry married the love of his life Suzanne in 1968 and together they raised a son and a daughter.
Larry was a passionate sports fan, especially the San Francisco Giants and Willie Mays. He loved to coach his son’s teams and watch his grandson play as well. He played on numerous baseball and softball teams well into his forties and was an avid collector of sports memorabilia. He also enjoyed his weekly Wednesday morning breakfasts with his post office friends.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Suzanne Macke; daughter Kim Thompson (Glenn); son Bryan Macke (Erik); sister Shirley Icenogle (Stan); brother Fenton Macke (Judi); granddaughter Samantha Bernstein (Adam); grandson Dylan Bernstein; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fenton and Maxine Macke, step-mom Jane Macke, father-in-law James Daugherty, and mother-in-law Eulalia Daugherty.
He loved his family very much, was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 5pm to 8pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 1pm at Roselawn Funeral Home with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
