Laura E. Stevens

Laura Elizabeth Stevens, of Terre Haute, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at her residence, age 63.

Laura was born in Terre Haute on May 19, 1949, the daughter of the late Thomas and Brookie Marie (Holland) Jeffrey. She was united in marriage to John W. Stevens, Sr., who preceded her in death. Laura loved country music, loved to dance and is now dancing in heaven. She was a tremendous Elvis fan and enjoyed collecting Elvis memorabilia. Laura will forever be remembered for being truly selfless, giving, caring. She deeply loved her family and will be terribly missed.

Laura leaves behind her two sons, John W. Stevens Jr. and girlfriend Lynn and Matthew T. Stevens and wife Sharon; three daughters, Johanna Frakes, Isabella E.E. “Wheezie” Goodpasture and Loretta Forbes. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren, Roxanna Frakes, Brookie Frakes, Danny Joe Forbes, Jr., Laura Elaine Forbes, Edward Sears and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Ida Hargis and husband, Mitch; two brothers, Oney Jeffrey and Bill Jeffrey and wife Sue; brother-in-law, Chuck Elkins; sisters-in-law, Linda Jeffrey, Zona Arend, Nora Banta, Violet Watson, Wanda Haney; brothers-in-law, Evert Stevens, Raymond Stevens, Stacy “Pete” Stevens, Jr. and several loving nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Laura was welcomed home to heaven by her father-in-law, Tom Stevens; mother-in-law, Eloise Stevens; brothers-in-law, Stacy Stevens, Sr. and Ron Jarvis; two grandsons, Coty Forbes and Zeek Goodpasture; brothers, Tom Jeffrey, Joe Jeffrey and Larry Jeffrey; sisters, Flora “Jitter” Jarvis and Ella Mae Elkins and sister-in-law, Shirley Jeffrey

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Laura’s Funeral Ceremony at 2:00 p.m. at the Roselawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. The entire Stevens and Jeffrey families would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of the Wabash Valley for the compassionate care they provided Laura in her final days. My condolences to the Stevens family,I know it was the hardest time in my life when my mom passed away.I love and miss her everyday,I know she was there greeting her sister,they were very close.I loved aunt Laura and always remember how pretty she was and always smelled like timeless perfume.She will be missed,
