

Leland Verne Stanley, age 94, died on the morning of July 4, 2015, at his home, in Terre Haute. Leland was born in Indianapolis, on Sept. 25, 1920, but he has lived in Terre Haute since 1950, with his wife, Barbara, who predeceased him in 2009.
Together, they opened a successful business, Ace Blind and Drapery, which still operates under the skillful direction of a new owner, Polly Bryan. Leland was known as “The Blind Man” and drove his van around the vicinity which declared the warning: “Caution: A Blind Man is driving this van.” Leland also loved to fish and was quite a good ballroom dancer.
He is survived by his two daughters, Carolyn Jill Stanley of Terre Haute, and Janet Stanley Furr and husband Joey of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandsons, Joshua Furr and wife Brittany, and Joseph Furr and wife Gabrielle, who also reside in Sarasota; six surviving siblings, Norma Stanley Campbell of Miami, Fla.; Herschel Stanley, of Ocala, Fla., Joan Stanley Rollings, of Largo, Fla., Carol Mae Stanley Klakamp, of Findlay, Ohio, David Stanley of Tobaccoville, N.C., and Paul Stanley, also of Miami; and many nieces and nephews.
Leland will be missed by his family.
There are no plans for services or visitation.
