Obituary of Lois Ann Baysinger
Lois Ann Baysinger passed away March 28, 2022. She was born April 14, 1928, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Robley “Bob” and Helen Miller Snedeker. She graduated from Wiley High School in 1947. She married George Elmer Baysinger in 1948, moved to Oregon and later moved with their children back to Terre Haute. They owned and operated the Elm Grove Tavern, Carosi's Restaurant in Terre Haute, and the Seelyville Liquor Store. Lois also worked at Columbia Enameling in Terre Haute. She tended bar at the Tiki in the Crooked Hook RV Resort in Clewiston, FL, where she lived for the past 27 years. Louie, as she was known, was an adventurer who loved to fish and boat. She was a voracious reader and cunning card player. Her greatest joy was skydiving, with 71 jumps under her belt in the past 10 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Ethel Mae McBride Snedeker; her husband of 61 years; and her sister Shirley Murphy. Louie is survived by her daughter, Sherry Riggs; son, Roger “Pat” Baysinger; special daughter-in-law, Kathy Baysinger; and sister-in-law, Marlene Baysinger. Her grandchildren include: Lisa and Stephen (Craighead), Michelle and Mike Abrams, Ryan and Melissa Baysinger, and Kurt Baysinger; great-grandchildren: Olivia and Lauren Craighead, Bridgette and Brayden Rhoads, Matthew and Kristen Baysinger: along with her nieces and nephews. Louie will be fondly missed by her family and her Crooked Hook RV Resort friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Terre Haute Humane Society, Hospice of the Wabash Valley, and the Sisters of Providence. Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home from 1 – 2:45pm. Service will begin at 2:45pm. Per her wishes, cremation has been chosen.
