Lucille Florence Frederick

December 27, 1938October 3, 2019

Lucille Florence Frederick, 80, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Signature Healthcare. She was born on December 27, 1938 in Terre Haute to Charles R. and Ruth V. (Shumacher) Dunn. She married Peter Frederick on March 7, 1966. Lucille is survived by her husband of 53 years, Peter Frederick of Terre Haute; sons, Peter Frederick and wife Amy, Steven Frederick, Keith Frederick, all of Terre Haute, and Daniel Frederick and wife Susan of Crawfordsville. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Stephanie, Brendon, Elizabeth, Ashley, Brandon, Brooke, Bryce, Brittany, Cameron, and Cole Frederick. Lucille worked as a nurses’ aide for many years at Meadows Manor East. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. Being outside in the fresh air, whether she was gardening or sitting on the porch, was one of her favorite things to do. She doted on her dogs, Thor and Pal. A woman of great strength and patience, she raised four sons alongside her husband. She loved being a mother of boys, with all of the challenges, busy schedules, and sports practices and events that came with the territory. She was delighted when she became a grandmother to all ten of her grandchildren. Lucille will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and amazing grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family. Per her wishes, cremation was chosen. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at a later date. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mattoxwood.com

I have fond memories of Lucy, for years a very good friend of my mother's. I remember Lucy, Bud, my mom, and dad going on trips together, more notably when they went to Toronto and Niagara Falls around 1998. Mostly, I recall Lucy picking up mom as they drove together to work, working the third shift at Meadows Manor East. Lucy and mom had many conversations by phone, mom sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee, and for years this was a normal aspect of my experience growing up in Terre Haute. Ironically, my dad passed away just over a month before Lucy passed, and mom passed in 2010, so now I can only smile thinking of the three of them meeting up again to travel the universes together, the many mansions in heaven. Rest in peace, Lucy, and my sincerest condolences to the family.

I was a 5/6 teacher at Warren Elementary when the Frederick boys attended there. I felt lucky when I had a Frederick in my classroom knowing I would also have a great room mother and caring father. You were a wonderful family to work with. I am so sorry for your loss of this lovely lady.

My heart is heavy with this news, Peter and I were very good friends growing up a stones throw apart. Lucy and my momma wanted to trade Peter and I because Lucy wanted a daughter and momma wanted another son! Lol Lucy was the sweetest 2nd momma a kid could ask for, she loved us but scolded us when needed! Pete you are a loving father, husband, grandpa and friend and I know you will miss Lucy deeply! Peter, Steven, Keith and Danny you have been extremely blessed to have your momma for this long, I pray for comfort, peace and understanding in your time of loss and sorrow for your entire family! God bless you all!

I have known Lucy since I was 8. Her raspippy laugh was infectious. She was my neighbor when I think her family moved next door to us in I think 1974 1975 maybe. Four very robust boys to this day I call friends. I had the privilege to move back to my homestead and back around Pete... Lucy's husband. The connection Pete had to my husband was amazing. To be back to my roots and be among old soul's was comforting. I pray peace for the family and blessing. My heart is heavy for Pete Sr for the loss of his wife. Your friend, Kim Tyler
