

Marcella Ann (Marcy, Mimi, Copper Bar “Mama L”) Lenne Lundstrom, 88, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Union Hospital. She was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Terre Haute, to her father Louis A. (Lou, Pop) Lenne Sr. and Ethel M. Prather Lenne, and was later adopted by Lou Lenne’s second wife Henrietta (Mom) Barnhart Lenne to provide her with a second legal mother following Ethel’s passing at Marcella’s early age.
She proudly enlisted as a U.S. Navy Wave on the date of her first qualifying birthdate and served in the U.S. Navy Radar Intelligence Department in Washington, D.C. during World War II. She remained an avowed patriot and supporter of military personnel throughout her adult life. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972.
Following her discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1946, she remained active with Lenne Food Products, a family owned business, while also working as a television commercial model and the Indiana State University Computer Department before holding a variety of staff and management positions with Imperial Lanes Bowling Alley over a period of 30 plus years prior to her retirement as the office manager in 2010.
She was preceded in death by her father (Pop Lenne); two mothers (Ethel Lenne and Mom Lenne); her husband, Paul R. Lundstrom Sr.; and her son, Paul R. (Rick) Lundstrom Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Annette Lundstrom Kelly; her daughter Carla Louise Lundstrom Slagel and Carla’s husband Dr. Dale E. Slagel; her son, David R. (Rob) Lundstrom; her brother, Louis A. (Skip) Lenne Jr. and Skip’s wife Linda Neal Lenne; eight grandchildren, Chrissie Kelly Patterson, Lynn Kelly Zimmerman, Deborah C. Kelly, James R. (Rick) Kelly, Zachary A. Slagel, Matthew J. Slagel, Catherine Lenne Slagel Story, Logan Lundstrom; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 S. 9th St., in Terre Haute, at 11 a.m. Saturday April 14, 2012, with a life celebration reception to be held at The Copper Bar, 810 Wabash Ave., in Terre Haute, immediately following the funeral mass. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening, April 13, 2012, at Mattox-Ryan Funeral Home, 602 S. 7th St., in Terre Haute. She chose cremation so a private burial ceremony will be held at a later date with VFW Post 972 conducting graveside military rites. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marcella’s name to Hospice of the Wabash Valley/Visiting Nurse Association.
