

Margaret Salmon 97, is at rest with God in Heaven after a life well lived. She passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, following a brief illness. Margaret was born to parents Mike and Elizabeth Benna in Terre Haute, May 5, 1920. She was a life-long resident of Terre Haute and graduated from Garfield High School in 1938. She married Robert Salmon on April 10, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 2002. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Joseph Benna and John Benna.
Margaret is survived by her four daughters, Carol Fick of Terre Haute, Linda Kerr (Frank Kerr) of Plainfield, Barbara Salmon of West Lafayette and Janice Fetter-Salmon (Steven Fetter-Salmon) of Indianapolis, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Margaret was a loving and generous mother and grandmother who enjoyed family parties, especially holiday gatherings. Her devotion to her faith and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church was of great importance to her. Margaret was truly an inspiration by her dedication to aging gracefully and healthfully. She learned to swim at 75 at the local YMCA, attended water aerobics well into her 90's and walked on her treadmill daily.
Visitation will be at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
