Margaret “Margy” Sparks, 61, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. She was born on May 8, 1955 to John and Helen (Graham) Sparks. She married Richard Pruitt on April 4, 1992.
Margy is survived by her husband of nearly 25 years, Richard Pruitt of Terre Haute; son, Damon Pruitt of Terre Haute; brother, Douglas Humphrey and wife Barbara of Rosedale; nephew, Doug Humphrey and wife Kelly ; nieces, Theresa Carey, Christina Morris (Michael), and Kelley Cunningham; former sister-in-law, Connie Cunningham and husband Darrell; special friends, Marilyn Locke, Cheryl Hamilton, Tracie Coonce, Deb Tryon, and Marie Rogers; faithful furry companions, Aggie and Stroker; and numerous friends that are too many to list. She was a second mother to Steve Dalton, Crystal Sisson, and Erin Locke. She will be truly missed.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Margy was well known, loved by all who knew her, and always had a huge smile on her face. In her family since 1962, Margy owned and operated Spark’s Stop 5 for the last 41 years. She enjoyed tending bar, lending an ear, and dispensing good advice. Margy enjoyed life and she lived more in 61 years than most people could in 100 years. She was a generous person who always helped any way she could without expecting anything in return. Margy liked to fish, bowl, and play pool. She loved tackling various home improvement projects, especially when it meant a trip to Menards. She also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She was a member of American Legion Post 104 Ladies Auxiliary since the day she was born. Most of all, Margy cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
Margy’s family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice’s staff, aides and Margy’s nurse, Tricia for all the care and compassion shown during Margy’s illness and final days.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 24 at Thomas Funeral Home and an hour prior to services on Tuesday. A celebration of Margy’s life will be held at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, October 25, at the funeral home with Pastor Billy Henry officiating. Margy will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park. A carry-in dinner and continued sharing of memories will follow at Spark’s Stop 5. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.thomasfuneralhome.net
