Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Russell
Mary Elizabeth Russell, daughter of the late Margaret Wilson and Dallas Paul Webb, was born on April 26, 1931 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Mary was employed by Vigo County School Corporation at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School and Tofaute & Spelman Law Firm for many years. Mary accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member and served as an usher for the Lord. Mary Elizabeth Russell departed this life Saturday, January 16, 2021, at the age of 89 years old, at Union Hospital. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, James H. Russell Jr.; mother, Margaret Wilson; father, Dallas Paul Webb; brother, Franklin Webb; In-laws, Mary Stewart Russell and James H. Russell Sr.; and sister-in-law, Pamela Ballard. Mary leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Edith Rose of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sons, Edward Russell (Sherry) and Reginald Russell of Terre Haute, Indiana; one sister, Janet Woods (Herman); nine grandchildren: Tamasha "Tomi" Rose and husband Mark Strickland of Miami, Tameka Cooper (Shannon), Todd Russell, Tony Russell, Myron Rose (Tomorrow), Tabitha Russell, Thaa Rose (Demetric), Jaycie Murphy and Michael Smith (Carla); sisters-in-law, Esther Turner, Gloria Dow (John), Marilyn Cheeks (Ronald), Phyllis May (Donald), and Sondra Conley; brothers-in-law, Larry Russell (Vicky), Michael Russell (Joy), and Dale Ballard; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, cousins and many dear friends. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, January 22, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Buckeye Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, with the Rev. Dexter Jordan officiating.
