Obituary of Mary Jane (Shaw) Smithhart
Mary Jane (Shaw) Smithhart, 81, passed away December 31, 2021 at her residence, with her family by her side. She was born on August 26, 1940 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Mary graduated Gerstmeyer High School in 1958. She lived in Florida from 1978 to 2005 and was a homemaker who also taught preschool in various churches. She enjoyed making arts and crafts and visiting the beach with her family. She loved the Lord and was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Esta Shaw; her sisters: Edith Maxine Cobb, Barbara Hofmann, and Phyllis Bashaw; along with her brothers: Robert Shaw, James L. Shaw, Fred Shaw, Richard Shaw, Charles Shaw, Jerry Shaw and Norman Shaw. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Melvin Smithhart of Brazil, Indiana; daughters: Cynthia Morgan (Richard), Lori Burgess (Robert) and Jamie Rogers (Brian); her sons: John Smithhart Sr., Mark Smithhart and Andrew Smithhart (Daniell); sister June Rose Jones (Sonny); her two brothers: William Shaw and Danny Shaw (Cathy); grandchildren: Leticia Bowlin, Britnee Natale (Michael), John Smithhart Jr. (Patsy), Valerie Smithhart, Andrew Burgess, Tiffany Smithhart, Christian Rogers and Lashae Butler; great grandchildren: Kilon Butler, Sarah McGilvray (Brendan), Matthew Bowlin (Chelsea), Elena Natale, Ella Natale, Grayson Smithhart, Sophia Smithhart, Lucas Smithhart; great-great grandchild: Blakely McGilvray; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great- great nieces and nephews, and cousins, including, Ronald and Patty Bowen who put joy and love into her life; and her sister in laws: Betty Shaw and Alice Shaw. A Chapel Committal Service will be held on Friday, January 21st, 2022 at 1:30pm at Roselawn Memorial Park in the Chapel of Memories, with Rev. Ron Bowen officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to 1834 Sanctuary located at 4746 E Evans Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47805. Roselawn Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
