

Matilda M. Larsen, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, at Springhill Village, surrounded by her family. She was born April 22, 1933, in Terre Haute, to John Newton and Magdalen (Joseph) Driskell. She loved to garden, play bingo and read books. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Matilda is survived by her two daughters, Margaret Larsen Slaven and husband, David, and Karen Larsen Modesitt and husband, Gerry; two sons, Richard Arlen Larsen Jr. and wife, Melissa, and John Daniel Larsen and wife, Elaine; a sister, Christina Williams; a brother-in-law, Kenneth C. Larsen; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Toby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Arlen Larsen Sr.; and a brother, George A. Driskell.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dana Newhouse officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley/VNA, Springhill Village Activity Department, Trinity Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
