

Nancy Pyatt Gillum, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012. Nancy was born in Gary, Ind., on July 31, 1929, to Attorney Raymond Pyatt and Margaret Fisher Pyatt. She graduated from Hobart High School in Indiana in 1947. Nancy graduated from Purdue University in 1951, and also received her master’s degree from Indiana University. She was very loyal to Purdue, and supported Purdue with various contributions.
Nancy was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority at Purdue, and continued with alumnae group while living in the Phoenix area. Nancy taught elementary education in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Sycamore, Ill., in addition to a special pre-school in Dallas.
Nancy and Bob, her husband, were active in the Fox Valley Dog Club in Illinois, receiving several awards for their Shetland Sheepdogs, through the years. They raised and trained several “Shelties” during their time in Illinois and Arizona, and participated in many Dog Shows while there.
After her retirement to Arizona, Nancy enjoyed being a member of two bands and a Clarinet group in Sun City. Music was a big part of Nancy’s life, forming lasting friendships. She was a member of Congregational Church in Sun City West.
Survivors are her sister, Alice Pyatt Barrett of Fort Myers, Fla.; and some loyal cousins in Indiana, Illinois and Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Robert G. Gillum
A service will be held at Mattox-Ryan Funeral Home, 602. South 7th St., in Terre Haute, at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until services.
