Nancy Annette Higgins

Nancy A. (Edmonson) Higgins, 73, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis after a brave, two year battle with cancer. She was born on December 21, 1939, in Jasonville to Zeno and Gladys (Hunter) Edmonson. She married Robert Higgins on June 27, 1957 and together they raised four children. Nancy and Bob enjoyed dancing and listening to karaoke together. For the last twelve years, they wintered in Florida on the Gulf Coast. Nancy loved the ocean, and she and Bob found great peace in listening to the waves and watching the sun set over the ocean in the evenings. Nancy had no greater joy than spending time with her family. She will always be remembered as kind-hearted and strong-willed. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Higgins of Terre Haute; their children, Kevin Higgins and his wife Marsha, Beth Hood and her husband Kevin, Brenda Roman and her husband Doug, and Bryan Higgins; grandchildren, Joseph Hayes, Dustin Higgins, Alicia Hayes, Selina Roman, Shayne Roman, Logan Higgins, Lynsey Higgins, Kreig Higgins, Shania Hood, and Mallory Higgins; a great-granddaughter Aaliyah Higgins; and her schnauzer, Misty Blue.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Rita Collins, a brother Charles Edmonson, and a grandson Michael Higgins.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 on Friday, September 20 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Chris McKinney officiating.
