Nora Belle Ellington

Nora Belle Ellington passed away on April 14, 2024 at the Gibson Hospice Center.
She was born on July 18, 1930 in Charleston, Illinois as the first child of Nathaniel Everett and Mary Alice (Miller) Watson. She married Chester Stanley Ellington, Sr. on April 15, 1949 in Marshall, Illinois and had four children. She retired from the housewares department at Root’s after 25 years.
Affectionately known as Grandma Sweetie, she was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother who made the best homemade noodles and deviled eggs. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Harold and sister Juanita.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Ed) Majors, Catherine Walters (Bill Dowdell), Chester Stanley Jr. (Minda) Ellington and Lorie Richter (Bobby Grizzle). Grandchildren, Cara Embry, Robin Sipes, Michael Everhart, Randy and Rusty Majors, Kevin Clerk, and Lacey Keep.
Great-grandchildren, Brandon Majors, Austin Sipes, Shawn Sipes, Selina Burton, Dessica Boston, Shania Rhodes, Chelsea Hogue, Shelby Parham, Parker Majors, Ramsey Majors, Peyton Clerk, Morgan Clerk, Nathan Gess, Alex Gess, William Gess, Samantha Gess, Josephine Keep, Eleanor Keep, Isabelle Keep.
Great-great grandchildren: Waylon, Dawson, Deacon, Watson, Decker, Brewer, Ezra, Aiden, Isaac, John Michael and Jax.
Visitation will be at Roselawn Funeral Home on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 1-3p.m., service at 3p.m. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
