Norman Gregory, 64, of Terre Haute, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 8, 2015. He was born on August 26, 1950, in Terre Haute to Joseph and Elizabeth (Stultz) Gregory. He married Diane Jones on July 19, 1970.
Norman proudly served a tour in Vietnam for the United States Army. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at ISU. He worked for Pillsbury for many years. He then went to work as a Master Electrician for the IBEW. During his career in the union, Norman taught NECA electrical classes at the union hall and for Ivy Tech. Norman attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.
After his retirement, Norman enjoyed keeping busy. He was a member of VFW Post 972 and the American Legion. He volunteered and lent his skills to Habitat for Humanity. He was actively involved in his children’s sports organizations, even after his kids were grown, always helping out when needed for Terre Town Baseball and North Wrestling. At home, he could always be found tinkering and fixing stuff. He would help friends, neighbors and anyone who needed it at any time without expecting anything in return. He liked to take care of his farm animals and dote on his beautiful dogs. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.
Norman is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Diane (Jones) Gregory of Terre Haute; children, Maya Stewart and husband Mike of West Terre Haute, Tyson Gregory and fiancée Kendra Stinson of Austin, TX, and Trevor Gregory and significant other Hayley Cooper of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Evan, Ashton, and Preslie Stewart, all of West Terre Haute; brothers, Joseph Gregory and wife Rita of Terre Haute, Carl Gregory of Terre Haute, and Fred Gregory and significant other Karen Gill of Rosedale; a sister-in-law Helga Gregory of Terre Haute; several nieces, nephews, neighbors, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth Gregory, and a brother Evert Gregory.
