Ralph "Jack" W. Roads

Ralph “Jack” W. Roads, 82, of Brazil, passed away on April 14, 2015, at his home. He was born on January 17, 1933, in Time, Illinois, to Russell Johnson Roads and Ada Dorothy (Conkwright) Roads. He married Ruth I. Brown on February 17, 1952.

Jack was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. He kept in touch with his former classmates and always looked forward to attending class reunions and their monthly lunch get-togethers. He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard for several years, earning the rank of Master Sergeant before he was honorably discharged in 1959. He enjoyed working in his yard, especially tending to his flowers. Jack was a long time member of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ. Jack was a devoted husband to his wife Ruth, who passed away in February 2007. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Jack was also preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Vincent Roads, Robert Roads, and Lyndal Norris.

He is survived by his children: Debra Sutherland and husband Stephen of Fontanet, Michael Roads and wife Barbara of Logansport, Bruce Roads of Fontanet, Cynthia Krieger and husband Bill of Golden, CO, and Lori Drisko and husband John of Knightsville; grandchildren: Morgan Woolley and husband Matt, Evan Sutherland and fiancée Stephanie Stutsman, Bailey Tresenriter and husband Lance, Abby Angle and husband Justin, Brice Roads, Jennifer Brockett and husband John, Andy Pluff, Heather Hicks and husband Joe, Elizabeth Drisko, and Andrea Drisko; and great-grandchildren, Maddison Brockett, Allison Brockett, Maraya Doll, Andrew Drisko, Nicholas Hicks, and Cameron Tresenriter.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20, at the funeral home with Reverend Teresa D. Higus officiating. Jack will be laid to rest with his wife in Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites performed by VFW Post 972.
