

Raymond was born in Terre Haute on January 26, 1919, the son of the late Glen and Ruth (Cooley) Hurst. On October 12, 1962, he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy VeVerka. Their marriage was blessed with nearly fifty loving years and countless memories that will live on forever.
Raymond worked as a yard conductor for the railroad for several years. In addition to his love of family and friends, he enjoyed singing, square dancing, playing the clarinet, piano and saxophone, along with traveling. Raymond and Dorothy also spent several years living in North Ft. Myers, Florida and were most recently residents of the Wyndmoor. His good natured spirit will not soon be forgotten by his entire family and friends.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Dorothy; daughter, Susan and husband Keith Henderson of Westminster, CO.; step daughters, Patricia Bedwell of Sullivan and Mary and husband Jack Snow of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Tresa Stanley, Erin and husband Rob Morris, Melissa Hurst, Robert and wife Daisa Bedwell, Todd Bedwell, Susan and husband Tom McFadden and Steven and wife Tiffany Snow. Raymond was the proud and loving great grandpa of Gavin and Garrett Stanley, Jackson, Matthew and Emerson Morris, Justin and wife Kristine Bedwell, Caitlin, Jeremy and Elizabeth Bedwell, Michael and wife Caitlin Bedwell, Zachary and Sagan Snow, Kelsey Jordan and Meghan and Michaela McFadden. He also leaves behind his darling great great granddaughter, Lilly Anne Bedwell.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was welcomed home to heaven by his son, Robert Raymond Hurst and his step son-in-law, Bobby Jean Bedwell.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Raymond’s Funeral Ceremony at 12:00 Noon at the Thomas Funeral Home in Terre Haute. Pastor Kyle Andrews will officiate with burial following in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in memory of Raymond may be directed to the American Heart Association, the Zorah Shriners or the donor’s favorite charity.
