

Dick proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a Forward Air Controller in Vietnam, worked in Strategic Air Command during the Cold War, and also piloted a B-58 Hustler and a T-33 during his Air Force career. Dick was highly decorated and retired as a Major after 20 years of honorable service. Dick then went to work as a commercial pilot for Allegheny Air which later became U.S. Airways.
Dick enjoyed being busy. He was an excellent woodworker. He restored classic cars and tinkered with electronic gadgets. He also was a gifted artist, specializing in pencil and charcoal drawings. Dick liked photography, also. He was a member of the MOAA, VFW Post 972, the American Legion, and the NRA. Dick and Elaine attended First Baptist Church.
Dick is survived by his wife, Elaine (Isbell) Boubek of Terre Haute; daughters, Kristine Boubek Moore of Midland, Texas and Sandra Boubek Evans and her husband Steve of Baytown, Texas; step-children, Theresa Cates and her husband Skip of Birmingham, AL; William Moore, Stephen Moore, and Pamela Moore of Hot Springs, AR; Brent Isbell and his wife Jodi of Ft. Wayne; and Dawn Depasse and her husband Bob of Terre Haute; a sister, Violet Downing of Des Plaines, IL; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, three nephews and several great-nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kurt F. Boubek.
Visitation will be held from 10 until noon on Tuesday, September 2 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bernie Jackson officiating and military rites performed by VFW Post 972.
