

Rick was an Army Veteran. He served from August 1965 to October 1968. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division.
He married Linda K. Johnson on February 27, 1970, and she survives.
Rick worked as a Journeyman Lineman for over fifty years. He started out at Indianapolis Power and Light for ten years. He then went to Arizona Public Service for twelve years. He then worked construction linework, traveling for many years until his retirement.
Besides Rick’s wife, Linda of fifty-six years, he is survived by his son, Rickie J. Mattox Jr. of Gosport, Indiana; daughter, Cindi M. Kirk (Sean) of Staunton, Indiana; grandchildren, Andrea Kafer (adoptive parents Ross and Donna Kafer) of Mesa, Arizona, Justin R. Kirk of Phoenix, Arizona; Kayley R. Stonehocker (Curtis) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Sawyer, Dawson, Carter, Nolan and Walker Mattox, all of Phoenix, Arizona. Also surviving are sisters, Karen S. Mattox of Terre Haute, Indiana and Gina F. Mattox of Greenwood, Indiana; and a brother, John W. Callahan of Dugger, Indiana. Also surviving is a special niece, Megan Mattox of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Herschel C. Mattox Jr.
