Robert Lee DisPennett, Sr., 88, of Clinton passed away at 12:35am on July 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 7, 1937 in Edgar County, IL to Alfred DisPennett, Sr and Charlotte (Wheatfill) DisPennett.
He married the love of his life, Carolyn Miller DisPennett, on June 15, 1956. He was a loving father to 4 children. Dad was hard-working and dedicated. He spent a number of years working as a truck driver. He then became a West Terre Haute police officer and later owned and operated his own trucking company. He eventually served as special deputy with the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department.
Despite all of his jobs, he was a very family-oriented husband, father, and grandfather. He always made time for his family. Dad left a lasting impact on anyone who knew him. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spent many winters in Florida.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 67 1/2 years, Carolyn “Sue” DisPennett; his daughter Cheryl Dian Purtee; his grandson Travis DisPennett; his great-grandson Kingston Hughes; his brothers Donnie, Alfred, Ralph, William, James, and Jack; and his sisters Phyllis Fugate, Gloria Lance, and Patsy DisPennett.
Robert is survived by one sister, Martha (Ed) Johnston of Rosedale, one brother Kenneth (Deloris) DisPennett of Rosedale, a sister-in-law Dolores (Jim) DisPennett of Florida, one daughter, Susan (Pat) Richey of Sullivan, and two sons Robert (Kim) DisPennett, Jr. of Montana and Timothy (Beverly) DisPennett of Clinton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dawn (John) Chaney of Marshall, IN, Daniel (Claudia) McIhenny of North Carolina, Beverly (Scott) Wallace of Centenary, Kimberly (Dan) Evans of Clinton, Amanda (Richard) Pruitt of Shepardsville, Tiffany (Nick) Stamper of Lewis, Bobbi (Jamie) Stewart of Sullivan, Jessica (Tommy) Hughes of Florida, Jack DisPennett of Lafayette, Micaiah (Brandon) Yetter of Nebraska, Faith (Tyler) Gateley of Tennessee, Aimee (Bubba) Clark of Texas, and Joshua (Maddie) DisPennett of Montana. He is also survived by 41 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Monday, July 7, 2025 at Roselawn Funeral Home from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Roselawn Funeral Home at 10am with entombment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
