

Robert H. Gilmore, Sr., 94, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Sun Coast Hospice in Palm Harbor, FL, with his family by his side. He was born on July 1, 1921, in Summit Grove, IN, to Henry and Eva (Mann) Gilmore. He married Mary Louise Jones in 1940.
Robert proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Philippines. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 841. He operated a crane for 50 years before retiring. Robert loved to pitch horseshoes and was a long time member of the Collett Park Horseshoe Pitching Club. In his spare time he enjoyed carpentry and fishing. He and Mary loved to travel to Florida during the winter.
Robert is survived by his grandchildren: Mark Gilmore (Erica), Brett Gilmore (Brenda), Dawn Gilmore (Jerry), and Shana Eno; daughter-in-law, Connie Gilmore; great-grandchildren, Crystal, Tyler, Shelby, Breeanna, Lacey, Spenser, Payton, Broc, and Zachary; two great-great-granddaughters, Alexis and Avery; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Gilmore; a son, Robert H. Gilmore, Jr.; brothers, Albert, Andrew, and Cecil Gilmore; and a step-grandson, Jon Brush.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 on Monday, September 28 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home.
