Robert Lee Smith Sr., age 90, of Terre Haute, passed through this life into the next on February 27th. Robert was born on March 30, 1924 in Scottland, Illinois to Hermon W. Smith and Ruby C. Dailey Smith. He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School and that same year married Jean on August 23, 1941.
Robert was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, a member of Teamster’s Local 135, the Masons, Kerman Grotto, and the Scottish Rite. He worked as a truck driver for 48 years and retired from Consolidated Freight Ways.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Robert L. Smith Jr., and wife Cindy of Bath, OH, Murlene Reik and husband Bill of Terre Haute, and Stephanie Romine and husband Robert of Punta Gorda, FL; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters.
