Robert Wessol

Robert “Bob” Wessol, 60, of Mattoon, Ill., formerly of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, in his residence. Bob was born in Tennessee, Sept. 24, 1954, to John L. Wessol and Lillian Healy Wessol. Bob was an IBM certified specialist for Consolidated Communications in Mattoon and retired from the Firestone Corporation. Bob graduated in 1972 from Terre Haute North Vigo High School. He attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and was a graduate of Indiana State University. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and was referred to as “Uncle Bob.” He enjoyed fishing, bowling in a bowling league and was a huge Cleveland Browns fan.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Robert Wessol; and a nephew, Matt Mains.

He is survived by a brother, John Wessol and wife, Peggy; a sister, Donna Zellars and husband, Richard L. Zellars Jr., all of Terre Haute; nieces and nephews, Trevor Wessol, Holly Wessol, Richard Zellars III and wife, Courtney, Mark Bender, Sarah Mains, Michelle Gorrell and husband, Earl, Jennifer Craig and husband, Bradley, and Kristin Zellars; great-nieces and nephews, Alexis Bender, Ryan Ball, Michael Craig, Hunter Gorrell, Logan Craig, Justin Gorrell and Zachary Craig; and several cousins.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday Aug. 9, at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Kyle Andrews will officiate. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to NAMI of the Wabash Valley or to the charity of their choice.
