

Born in Sullivan, Indiana, he was the son of Roy “Rod” and Dorthy Wall (Akers).
He was honorably discharged from the US Army as a PFC of the Company Bravo and Batallion 60th Infantry 9th Infantry Division CoB2Bn60thInf9thInfDiv, where he was Sullivan County’s first Purple Heart recipient of the Vietnam War, May Con Delta.
Rodger was a founder and lifetime member of the Sullivan VFW Post 249. Also, a member of the Sullivan American Legion Post 139 and the Sullivan Moose Lodge 2517.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Wall (Hix); three daughters, Carrie Wall (Joe Ogg), Dawn (Mark) Smith, and Darcie Wall (Paul McCoy), all residing in Sullivan; five grandchildren, KC Brunton (Sarah), Kortnie Wright, Dillon Ammerman, Mark Smith Jr., and Karlie Thompson; 3 great-grandchildren, Ricky Michael Ammerman, Stiles McKendry Brunton, and Gracie Elizabeth McLain; siblings, Roy “Leon” (Becky) Wall of Paxton, Judy (late John) Drury of Shelburn, Esta (Carl) Ashton of Shelburn, Fred Wall of Indianapolis, Shelia (Robert) Wright of Fairbanks, and Lora (Bill) Simmons of Shelburn.
Rodger was preceded in death by his loving parents, Roy and Dorthy Wall; brothers, Billy, Rex, Tom, John David, Lex Wall; and one sister, Joyce Ann Drury.
He was also loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service in Rodger’s name will be held at a later date.
