

Ronald “Pop” French, 71, of Rosedale, passed away Dec. 24, 2011. He was born July 3, 1940, in Terre Haute, to William and Thelma French. He worked at the Putnam County Correctional Facility for 28 years, and was a 22 1⁄2 year veteran of the U.S. Military. He was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kay “Mam” French; four daughters, Barbara Kelly and husband Matt, Shawn Menser, Loretta Richey and Ashley Pruett; four sons, Ronald French Jr. and wife Karen, Kenny Menser, Daniel Glasgow, and Gregg Lawson and wife Becky; a brother, Donald French and wife Sandy; two sisters, Callie Myers and Carol Conder; 27 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Connie Paton and Sue DeRoller whom he raised, and Becky McPheeter; special friends, Gen and Joe Craft, Barny and Sue Goff, and Bruce and Donna Hollis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thomas and Wilbert French; two brothers-in-law, Ora Myers and Glenn “Buck” Forsman; a son-in-law, Marvin Pruett; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave., in Terre Haute. Pastor Gene Jeffers will be officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Sulpher Springs Cemetery.
