Obituary of Rosalie Nelson
Rosalie Nelson, 98, of Westfield, Indiana, and formerly of Lyford, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020, at Copper Trace Senior Living in Westfield. Rose was born May 4, 1922, in Pioneer, Tennessee, to Alfonso and Giovanna “Katie” Begliutti. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1940 and worked at Quaker Maid in Terre Haute, the Roma Restaurant in Clinton, and Roane Anderson Co. in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, before becoming a homemaker. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Clinton. She married Cecil C. Nelson on October 11, 1941. Rose loved her family, friends, church, travel, and reading. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Cecil, who died in 2009; her parents of Jellico, Tennessee; a special aunt and uncle, Giacinto and Catherina Esmondi of Clinton; five brothers, William, Joe, Steve, Alfonso, Jr. and John Begliutti, all of Tennessee; and a cousin, Nino Esmondi of Clinton. Survivors include two daughters, Sherilyn Ridgley of Delray Beach, Florida, and Janet (Ed) Pastorius of Carmel, Indiana, with whom Rose lived from 2009 to 2015; four grandchildren, Sarah Jacobson of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, Dr. Frank Ridgley of Miami, Florida, Ryan (Heather) Pastorius of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Megan (Jason) Smith of Fishers, Indiana; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Caitlyn Jacobson of Minnesota; one step-great-grandchild, Antonia Smith of Fishers, Indiana; two sisters, Mary Lou Abbott of Salem, Virginia, and Frances Churchill of Maryville, Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Willie Begliutti and Faye Begliutti of Tennessee; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 29 in Roselawn Memorial Park with Reverend Cheryl Montgomery officiating. In lieu of flowers, Rose requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Lewy Body Dementia Association in her name.
