Ruth M. Mankin

Ruth M. Shaffer Mankin, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at her home, with her family by her side. She was born on January 24, 1924, in Terre Haute, to Warren E. Shaffer and Elsie L. Miller Shaffer. She graduated from Cory High School in 1942. She married Leonard H. Mankin on September 22, 1944 and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2003. She retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. in December of 1983 after 27 years of service.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Virginia Jones, and a son Douglas Mankin.

She is survived by a son, Greg Mankin and his wife Marcia of Avon; a daughter-in-law, Shirley St. Michel of Galveston, IN; six grandchildren, Jacqueline Francescon and husband Quentin of Indianapolis, Douglas Mankin and wife Monika of California, MD, April Bitting and husband Pete of Pittsboro, Zachary Mankin of Port Orange, FL, Jacob Mankin of Avon, and Mallory Mankin of Avon; and great-grandchildren, Douglas Mankin, Jr., Dylan Mankin, Nadia Bitting, Vanesska Mankin, and one on the way.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 on Friday, February 14 at Roselawn Funeral Home and from 11 until noon on Saturday, February 15. Services will be held at noon, on Saturday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Craig White officiating. Entombment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories.
