Sharon May Baker, age 73, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at Gibson Family Hospice Center, surrounded by her family.
Born on September 16, 1952, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Sharon was the beloved daughter of James and Ruth Kerins. She was one of eight children, proudly embracing her role as a middle child. She was known as a daddy's girl and her mother's helping hand, and she carried those same values of love, loyalty, and service throughout her life.
For 48 wonderful years, Sharon shared a beautiful marriage with the love of her life, Jerry Baker. Together they built a home centered on love, laughter, and family.
Throughout her career, Sharon worked in bookkeeping and accounting for several companies. Later in life, she discovered a passion for nursing, finding great fulfillment in caring for others. Her compassionate heart and gentle spirit made it a natural calling.
Sharon dedicated many years to the Girl Scouts, eventually serving as a troop leader and positively influencing the lives of countless young girls. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. Whether family, friends, or unexpected guests, no one ever left her home hungry. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, conversation, and unconditional love, where the phrase, "the more, the merrier," truly came to life.
She found joy in crocheting, watching her favorite television series, Yellowstone, and, most of all, spending precious time with her grandson. Sharon will be remembered for her warm smile, quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, gentle nature, and unwavering generosity. She was selfless to her core, always willing to give whatever she had to help someone else.
To her family, Sharon was the heart of the home—the one who made every holiday special, every visitor feel like family, and every meal an expression of love. Her greatest joy wasn't found in the things she owned, but in the people she loved.
Sharon is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Baker; her children, Lisa Moore (Scott), Jamie Crone (Lance), and Stuart Baker; her beloved grandson, Nicholas Baker; five brothers, including twin brothers Donald Kerins and Ronald Kerins; two sisters; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Kerins; her mother, Ruth Kerins; her stepmother, Patty (Huser) Kerins; one brother; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth E. Baker; and her father-in-law, Lavone Baker.
A memorial celebration will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Roselawn Funeral Home. A simple funeral service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley in Sharon's memory.
If you were fortunate enough to know Sharon, you likely shared a meal at her table, received something she made with her own hands, or experienced her quiet generosity. She believed love was best expressed through caring for others, and she did so every day of her life.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless lives Sharon touched through her kindness, compassion, and unconditional love. Her legacy will live on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the many acts of generosity she shared throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
