Suzanne Montgomery (née Nicaud) passed peacefully into Heaven from her home in Terre Haute, Indiana, on June 21, 2017. She was born August 29, 1930, in Limoges, France, lived in Paris and, briefly, Wiesbaden, Germany, before entering the U.S. at New York City with her daughter and (former) Air Force husband in July, 1955.
Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Morris Rudy Montgomery. She is survived by daughter Suzanne J.E. (Kittlesen) Tourtillott, of Asheville NC; son John C. Kittlesen, of Austin TX; stepdaughter Denise Matos (Port Reading NJ); and stepsons Montie Montgomery (Turnwater WA) and Theodore (Teddy) Montgomery (Indianapolis); and six grandchildren.
Relocating from the Southwest U.S., Mrs. Montgomery and family moved to Terre Haute in 1965. She worked as a waitress for The Terre Haute House and Holiday Inn. Having trained as a seamstress in Paris, she established a successful sewing and alterations business at home, after retirement. She was a lifelong reader and self-taught learner, a lover of life, intelligent, brave, and funny. Mrs. Montgomery remained a citizen of France.
