

Terry W. Bennett, 61, of Clinton, stepped into Heaven on the arm of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of May 11, 2013. He was born on July 13, 1951, in Terre Haute, to Lawrence and Wanda (Stierwalt) Bennett.
Terry graduated in 1969 from West Vigo High School where he participated in softball, baseball, basketball, bowling, golf, and water skiing. He graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Vocational Technology Education. During college, he worked for Honda of Terre Haute. He proudly served in the Indiana Air National Guard after graduating high school, during the Vietnam Era, until being honorably discharged in 1985. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1985, Terry started his career with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 157, working in both Illinois and Indiana. He retired after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2012. He valiantly battled cancer for fourteen months.
Terry was a member of River of Life Church in West Terre Haute and loved his church family very much. He was a Corvette enthusiast and was a member of the Terre Haute Corvette Club since the early 1970’s. He was also a member of the Terre Haute Masonic Lodge, West Terre Haute Lodge 687. Terry enjoyed being a Mason, Freemason, and a Shriner.
Terry is survived by his wife, Barbara and step-sons Levi Akers and Tanner Akers, his mother, Wanda Bennett of Terre Haute, a brother Larry Bowman and wife Vickie of Franklin, a sister Janet Wells and husband Jim of Terre Haute, a sister Penny Overly and husband Eddie of Jamestown, KY, a niece Christa Gaskins of Terre Haute, nephews, L.D. Bowman and Tim Wells and wife Majel, and Ross Wells, all of Terre Haute; aunts Delores Dispennett, Harriett Bennett, Betty Bennett, and Emilee Wallace; and an uncle James Stierwalt.
He was preceded in death by his father, and grandparents Roscoe and Anna Stierwalt and William and Nora Bennett.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15 at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Maskell officiating.
