Thelma Ercell Sawyers Odom

Thelma Ercell Sawyers Odom, 97, of Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018. She was born on August 30, 1920 in Mobile, Alabama to Harvey and Lillian Lord. Ercell was an active member of the Seelyville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William D. Sawyers, Sr. and Clem H. Odom; and a son, Stephen Sawyers. Surviving are her son, William D. Sawyers, Jr and wife Donna; daughter-in-law, Patricia Sawyers; a sister, Juanita Quinlan Adams; two nieces, Karen Redicks and husband Jim, and Debbie Larson; four grandchildren, Mark Alan Sawyers and wife Patti, Bradley Egan Sawyers, Jennifer Lynn Sawyers, Michael Sawyers and wife Quin; nine great-grandchildren, Grant, Erica, Alesa, Ryan, Daniel, Julia, Elyssa Lunsford and husband Nathan, Austin and Jonah; one great-great grandson Mason; and her beloved cat, Charlie. Funeral services will be held on Monday June 25, 2018 at 1 P.M. at Roselawn Funeral Home, with Pastor Ann Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11 A.M. until time of services. Ercell will be fondly remembered for her love of the Bible, family and young children, sewing, knitting, puzzles, reading, and as a great cook. Memorials may be directed to Seelyville United Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family gratefully acknowledges VNA Hospice for their loving and comforting care of Ercell.
