Tom and his wife, Anita, were high school sweethearts. They were together for 50 years and married for 48 years. They were inseparable and devoted to one another. Tom was a loving father and grandfather, his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He was skilled in many trades and often worked on special projects with his brother-in-law and great friend, Charles Carlson. Tom loved his job and coworkers at Hoosier Energy and worked there for 37 years and was determined to work as long as he could. He was an extremely hard worker from the time he was a young boy. He was a great story teller, funny, kind, and would give you his last dollar to help.
Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anita (Shaffer) Isom; his mother, Marion Isom; a beloved daughter, Lori Elmlinger and husband Steve of Avon; two grandchildren he loved dearly, Steven Laine Elmlinger of New York and Devin Elizabeth Elmlinger of Bloomington; one brother, Robert Isom and wife Karen of Terre Haute; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by a beloved son, Bryan (2002); his father, Thomas Isom Sr.; and a sister, Sharon Bradford. Tom was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He will be sadly missed and loved forever.
Visitation will be held Wednesday March 21, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences can be made at:
