Vera Katherine Patterson

Vera Katherine Patterson, 97, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Meadows Manor East Nursing Home. She was born on December 10, 1917, in Terre Haute, to Leroy (Roy) Hogue and Clara Mae Douglas. She married John F. Patterson in August of 1937. Vera retired from Hercules after many years of service. She enjoyed being active and would frequent the YMCA on a regular basis. She participated in the Senior Olympics. She participated in the Senior Olympics. Vera loved her dogs and being outdoors and growing flowers. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and neighbors. Vera is survived by her sons, Charles Wayne Patterson and wife Mary of Rosedale and John G. Patterson and wife Kathy of Cypress, TX; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Robert E. Patterson, Sr., grandson Robert E. Patterson, Jr. Forbes, a brother Gilbert E. Hogue, and a sister Helen M. Holland. Per her wishes, Vera donated her body to science to educate aspiring medical professionals. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home.
